EPISODE TRANSCRIPT
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (00:00.46)
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to part two of the upgraded formulas mineral series. Today, we're gonna take a deep dive on my personal HTMA test, that's hair test, mineral analysis, and look at what's going on in my body. Do I have the building blocks for vital health? We're also gonna take a peek at hidden levels of toxicity. Maybe there's some arsenic, some mercury, or aluminum. What's going on in Freddie's body?
And I just want to offer everybody can get a discounted test to do your own HTML hair test, mineral analysis, using code freddy10 all caps at upgraded formulas.com. It's a great test, great data. If it resonates, let's have that conversation. How can we build a better body using the building blocks of life? Let's get started.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (00:55.299)
Welcome to the Beautifully Broken Podcast. I'm your host, Freddie Kimmel, and on the show we explore the survivor's journey, practitioners making a difference, and the therapeutic treatments and transformational technology that allow the body to heal itself. Witness the inspiration we gain by navigating the human experience with grace, humility, and a healthy dose of mistakes, because part of being human is being beautifully broken.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the beautifully broken podcast. I'm here with Tori Spielhagen and we're going over my upgraded formulas, Live Optimally HTML test. Good morning, Tori. Good morning. I'm excited to go over these test results with you. As I was saying, just before we started recording,
sample type was beard. And so the difference between that sample type and your scalp is that it grows so much faster. So sometimes when we're looking at nutritional elements, we have to take into account that when that hair grows faster, you may see elevations. the ratios are really, really more important than looking at the nutritional elements individually. Beautiful. So yeah, so we have nutritional elements here on the left and we've got all our, we've got our
Calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, all those good things. so I think I did not, I gotta be honest, I think I did 80 % beard. And then, you know, on the test, there's like this molecular weight, you gotta get the scale, the tip, so you have enough. I wanna say I like, did a little bit of arm hair as well, and then maybe like a little bit of armpit possibly. Okay. Well, those honestly grow pretty much at the same rate. So it's more, you know, I had one,
person who did pubic and hair. They took some from scalp and then they took some from pubic, which can be very confusing for somebody who's analyzing it because you've got pubic hair that grows so fast and then you have scalp hair and it's just a very different ratio. So I always tell people pick one or the other. had heard also in my past of discussing HTMA that
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (03:04.785)
pubic hair can be like high in copper because of the little copper buttons on your jeans around the area of your body. Have you ever seen that or known that to be true? Absolutely. Yes. Wild. The body is wild. It absorbs everything. I was about to say, you think about, you know, the things you put on your skin, how it gets, I mean, it's the biggest organ in the body. So, yeah. Okay. So as we look at your nutritional elements, we see calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, those are your macro minerals. So we're going to want to balance these macro minerals first and foremost.
because you have so much of them in the body. Additionally, sodium and potassium, they operate the sodium pump exchange on your cells. So they tell your body to let things in or out of the cell. And that's also another way of saying voltage of the cell, correct? That's giving that's given the cell the functionality of a battery. Absolutely. Absolutely. We're electrical human beings. So we need those.
electrolytes to, I mean, that's why I tell people if you have an RO system, you need to remineralize your water before you drink it so that your body can actually absorb the water you're taking in. Yeah. Decades of people doing that with a low level of awareness around minerals. I actually do, I do a distiller and then I remineralize with this. It's called CT minerals from Cellcore, which I really like. It's got a really high voltage. Seems to be great. Good. And everybody is
different, right? So I can look at, mean, I'm looking at your test results and it's showing a slightly elevated sodium and potassium, but actually I think when we get down to your ratios, it's going to be pretty even. It's going to be the ratio, the range that we want it to be in, but other people, I mean, I had one yesterday where her potassium levels were inverted. So she had higher potassium than the sodium. And so she had a lot of inflammation. Interesting. Okay. So
I'm going to go through your nutritional elements fairly quickly because I want to get to the ratios. Yeah, that's good. That's where the bulk of recommendations come from. But as you move to the right of your potassium, you're going to get into your micro minerals. So copper and zinc are involved with immune function as well as hormones. Zinc enhances testosterone and helps to fight viral infections while copper enhances estrogen and helps to fight bacterial infections. Closphorus is involved with ATP production.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (05:25.209)
So those numbers look good. Your iron levels look slightly elevated, but you're still in a reference range. So that's good. Manganase is your muscle recovery and memory minerals. So I have a lot of people that are our age, we're similar in age, where they're like, God, my short-term memories in the tank, especially my female clients who like me are moms and you're running around 900 different places working full-time and
A lot of times I see manganese in the tank there. So I'll either give you homework to figure out ways to elevate your manganese, but also food first. But I'll give you a couple of just suggestions on manganese rich foods. Chromium is, it aids with blood sugar regulation. So you're slightly elevated there. That doesn't necessarily mean your blood sugar is going to be out of whack, but it's definitely something we want to pay attention to.
Selenium is really important to thyroid function. So that's great that your numbers are there. Boron helps to get calcium into the bones. So calcium, when it is circulating and it's elevated, it's circulating in your soft tissues. It should never live there. We want it to actually live in the bones so that when you go through remodeling, it breaks down the calcium and it gets utilized to bring your blood levels to the correct pH, but then it can be reutilized.
So it's not that you didn't register Boron. It's actually that they stopped testing it several months ago. So I tell everybody, it's not that you don't have it. Also, if it's elevated or low, if your calcium levels are really elevated or really low, we know that there's probably a need for Boron. Okay.
Cobalt, so cobalt, your numbers look really good there. This is not, it's more of an indicator for digestive distress. So when you have elevated cobalt or low cobalt, it's an issue with hydrochloric acid in the stomach. So I'm sure you're aware digestion is a cascade. So if it's dysfunctional from the top, it's going to have dysfunction all the way down. So I really encourage people.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (07:35.534)
to get into that rest to digest that parasympathetic state before consuming a meal. so important. So important. I mean, I, again, half the time I'm eating meals in a carpool line because that's the way my day has gone. But in order to get myself into a parasympathetic state, I'll go to the carpool line early and then I'll just do a four, seven, eight breathing technique. And I'll repeat it four times just to get the digestive cascade.
primed and ready. Because if I tell you lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, pickles, and you think about those foods, you start to salivate. So you realize your brain actually is what starts the digestive cascade. Yeah, it's so true. So true. Okay, so molybdenum. Molybdenum is important to your detox pathways and removing copper from the bloodstream. looks great. Sulfur is not something necessarily that
upgraded we recommend supplementing with. It's not a product we have, but I would say it's important to phase one and phase two of your liver pathways. And so the easiest way is your cruciferous vegetables, right? Yeah. And in fact, for those who I've had a couple lately who are like, I don't touch cruciferous vegetables. are disgusting. And I'll say, how about we, would you be willing to do like a teaspoon of broccoli sprouts a day? Just to get that.
sulfur in. that, it's, funny to listen to these that, I say, Molly, I could butcher this. always say Molly, Beto, and then also like the sulfur, you know, during, my experience through Lyme, these are things that I would have various different functional medicine doctors or people that were on the fringe throw together little cocktails of like a Molly, Beto tab with a little aloe. remember drinking for a while that did help pain in my body. helped decrease the stomach inflammation as well as at times doing
building up to higher doses of MSN, which is a sulfur-bearing product. And again, that also had some benefit. I remember my fingernails and hair starting to grow a little bit extra when I supplement with those. Okay. Those are all really, really great solutions. And part of the reason is, is it's helping support those detox pathways, right? So elimination is critical to removing inflammation and toxins and
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (09:56.551)
we face them on a daily basis. And if our elimination pathways are not open and functioning properly, then we're just recirculating the things that our body doesn't want to have in there. supporting those elimination pathways is critical. So toxic elements, as I mentioned before we jumped on the zoom, I toxic elements, your body is incredibly intuitive, right? And so it sees these toxic elements and it says, well,
these shouldn't be circulating, I need to hide them. I don't want them to cause inflammation and problems throughout the body. in turn, they start hiding them. So if you, for instance, you're not registering any lead, but we'll just use lead. For instance, when I see calcium, magnesium, and iron elevated as I work to balance those.
at times I will see lead jump in subsequent tests. And the reason for that is the body says, yes, please give me the nutritional element. And as you're getting those nutritional elements in your body, as it gets healthier, wants to detox those. So I'm a firm believer in letting your body tell us when it's ready to detox, but also at the same time, supporting
your detoxification process. So making sure your GI tract is healed and sealed. So when and if, well, if your numbers jump and we start introducing some heavy metal chelators, then at that point you're primed and ready to eliminate them. Do you have, as you start to rebalance, like you said, your calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium, do you have a percentage that you would say of tests that you've looked at of people who do start
revealing hidden levels of toxicity from the mercury and the lead and whatnot? That would be a Barton question. Got it. I would love to say that I know the percentage right off the top of my head. I probably should considering how many of these I do, but that's a Barton question. Got it. Yeah. Usually it's in tests, sometimes depending on the health of the client, sometimes they'll start detoxing in test number two.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (12:07.742)
other people it's, you know, six, eight, nine months down the line. Wow. Fascinating. Yeah. Okay. So you are registering a little bit of uranium, some arsenic, mercury and aluminum and a tiny bit of cadmium. So again, these levels aren't so super elevated that I would feel like there was a need to detox you right now. I will say that, so
I'm going to kind of give you a backstory on how I got involved with nutrition. I've always been very involved with homeopathy and things like that. But when my son was born, he cried all day and all night. And there was nothing I could do that made it better.
homeopathic remedies would hold for a little bit, but then, and we were doing chiropractic adjustments. And I mean, I was, had the pediatrician saying cut out dairy for two weeks. And then, you know, you were cutting out other things and you kind of rolled down the line. So it's cutting things out every two weeks. And it wasn't until I found a nutritionist who said dairy, gluten, and soy molecularly are almost identical. So cut those out of your diet while you're breastfeeding.
And let's see, let's reduce his inflammation. had a new kid, this was six months, he was six months old by that point. So we had been going through a crying kid day and night for six months. And as a first time mom, that's pretty unnerving. I have a friend going through that in Instagram and she just made this post like a few weeks ago and she was like, please for the love of God send sleep. She's like, I am going crazy.
We have tried everything. Yeah. So when I cut those three things out of my diet, and at the time there was no gluten-free aisle, was no full 30, there was no program to follow. And so my sweet mom hired a chef who would cook like three different meals and I would eat, you know, he'd make a bunch of it and I would eat those three meals every week.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (14:11.383)
And was, I mean, it was, it was a whole 30 essentially is what we went back to. The only thing I did allow myself to have was oatmeal because I was starving. I mean, you're breastfeeding, so you're burning through a million calories. And I had a new kid in 10 days. Amazing. And then you fast forward four more months and my husband got sick for six weeks. He ran a fever every single day for six weeks. had
blood markers for lymphoma and leukemia. He had an enlarged spleen. We were doing bone marrow biopsies and the doctors were telling us, it's a virus. He has a fever of unknown origin. I'm like, yes, I can understand it's a virus, but his body is not responding. Like he's not able to get over it. What is going on? And they just could not explain for the life of them. So he grew up very Western medicine.
And I was like, I need you to go see my homeopath. We have a 10 month old baby, I need you to go see my homeopath. And so he went and my homeopath and she immediately knew she was like, his liver is so congested from a standard American diet that the byproduct from what's happening with the immune system can't be eliminated.
This is a really long story to get around what I'm going to recommend for toxic elements, but I don't really know how else to get there. think people will appreciate this. I think, again, it's really strong platform to speak from. You've got this great, it's a personal experience. So keep going. So we did homeopathic remedies for him daily ones, then we put him on some herbal tinctures, but then she had him start juicing.
And that was, again, before juicing, there was a juice bar on every corner. So we bought a juicer. And again, I had a 10-month-old, so there wasn't a whole lot of time out there to be juicing and cooking. And so what we did was we would save them in ball jars. But in the juice, we would put beets and the beet greens. We would put three to four bunches of cilantro. We would do cucumber to hydrate, celery.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (16:22.34)
for the potassium and the sodium.
Sometimes we'd throw in Swiss chard or spinach or kale or something like that. And then we do lemon, we do ginger and a little bit of apple because again, he grew up standard American diet. So his taste buds were not exactly primed for quite that many greens. And then, you know, juicing can you take out the fiber. And so it's, it's a carbohydrate, everything in there is a carbohydrate. So it's going to spike your blood sugar. So then we would, when he would pull it out every morning, we would add flax seed or chia seed.
or coconut flakes or just some sort of fat to keep his blood sugar from spiking. And the reason we did all of those is your liver loves beets. It loves, loves, loves beets. It's its favorite thing. And then cilantro is a natural heavy metal chelator. And so that's why we did so much of the cilantro is at the time, I didn't know about HTMA. I didn't know we could go cut his hair and see what his mineral levels were because I
At my core, I knew that was part of the problem, but I didn't know how to test it. But I know that now had I tested his toxic elements, I think we would have seen a significant drop in his toxic elements just doing the juice to support those liver pathways as well as the heavy metal chelators. So I tell pretty much every consult I have, if you're a cilantro lover, go to town because it's only going to help you find up.
Heavy metals. Beautiful. And your husband is okay. Oh, yes, he's great. I mean, that was, I mean, my son's 11 now. So, mean, it was 10 years ago that we went through this. And I would say he's probably the healthiest one of all of us. I mean, we're all pretty healthy, but he recovered really well. And in fact, I don't think it was probably three to four years before he ever even got sick again.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (18:17.372)
Incredible. anything, a cold, he was a chronic sinus infection twice a year. Yeah. I mean, we all got the flu two years ago. My son got it. No, it was longer than that. It 2017. I've lost two years in the pandemic. Yeah, we all did. We all did. But it was in 2017. That flu was really bad that year. And my son got it. And then my daughter got it. And then I got it. And he never got it. Wow.
So yeah, he's a firm believer in it now. He was not then, but he is now. It's beautiful that our organs, they can take a licking and keep on taking, but also regenerate when we change what we're putting into the body. I think people often forget that, that you're not smited upon with a bad organ. It's that it worked until it didn't. Yeah. you can, the body does work through lifestyle shift, right? Through the process of entrainment and introducing new things.
Absolutely. you've just got to keep finding your formula. Absolutely. I mean, your body evolves all the time. Yeah. So just finding the things that are working for you in that moment and just being willing to pivot and be dynamic with it is what's critical. I think it's also interesting. You just mentioned homeopathy a couple of times that that was something in your sphere of influence. you know, I know people are so triggered by that now they like look at it like witchcraft, but homeopathy, if you look back at the records,
is what actually got us through the 1918 pandemic. Exactly. Huge part of like scientific evidence that we've just like, no, that wasn't real. It's just hilarious to me that that was kind of what we had. Well, and it's so funny to me too, that everybody's so gung ho and on board with vaccines when at vaccines core, they are copying homeopathy. It's like treats like. Yes, like treats like. That's great.
So, and actually my homeopath, she, her primary practice is in New York. And so she was in New York when the pandemic hit, she lives in Austin, but when the pandemic hit, I mean, she has spent the last two years treating, you know, her clients in New York and then their family members. And it's been pretty amazing to see how people have recovered with very little intervention other than homeopathy and supplementation. Yeah. When it works, it's magical.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (20:40.666)
When it works, it's magical. It's early intervention. That's the key to that. 100%.
So additional elements, we're looking at additional elements now. These are more of your trace minerals. So on a first consult, I really don't spend a ton of time here, mainly because again, balancing those macros is what's critical. Oftentimes, once we balance those macro minerals, we will see trace elements and your micros come into balance. I do like to make sure that you're registering some lithium because that is important to detox pathways, which you are, so that's great.
Significant ratios. So this is where the bulk of your recommendations comes from. The significant ratio section. Wonderful. Yes. So C, A to P, this is calcium to phosphorus. So this is your metabolic ratio. This tells me if you're oxidizing or metabolizing slow, fast, or you're in a healthy range. If we're slow, we have access to all the nutritional elements.
but we may lack the co-factors to get them into the cells. For instance, if your sodium and potassium ratio is inverted, right? So you have too much potassium and not enough sodium, you're going to have a hard time getting things in and out of the cells. So that's where we don't want to be slow and we don't want to be fast. If we're fast, then we are burning through nutrients at a very rapid rate and we're going to burn out eventually. my ideal here is going to be that
2.6, but honestly, anything below a 3.6, so like 1.8 to 3.6 is my healthy metabolic ratio. So you're just slightly elevated. You're at a 4.3. So what I like to do is I like to go through all the significant ratios and then I circle back and kind of give my overall, here's where we're going to go for the next 90 days, if you're comfortable with that. That sounds great. And so it would be calcium.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (22:39.902)
would be high in relation to potassium. Correct. Wonderful. And calcium is a sedative mineral, whereas phosphorus, sorry, you said potassium is actually phosphorus. Phosphorus is involved with ATP production, so that energy production. So that's a driving mineral. That's much like sodium, potassium, it's just stimulatory. So we want to just bring your calcium levels and your phosphorus. You want your phosphorus to be just slightly above your calcium.
Okay. So N8K, this is sodium to potassium, and this is what I refer to as your stress and vitality ratio. So this tells me how your body kind of globally is handling stressors, whether that's physical stress, emotional stress, environmental stress, right? Heavy metals or food sensitivities, any sort of environmental stressor. So my ideal number here is going to be 2.4. You're at a 2.27.
Again, this is why I look at the significant ratios more than individual numbers. Yeah, because we saw that NA up top. Yeah, that looks really high. But the reality is because it was mostly beard, it grows so much faster. So it's showing higher sodium, potassium, but actually your ratio is perfection. So wonderful. That's great.
So the next one over is CA to K. That is going to be calcium to potassium. And calcium to potassium is actually your thyroid ratio. I'm sure you are aware how intimately involved your thyroid and your adrenals are. So one thing I like to do is I kind of skip over ZN to CU and I jump to NA to MG because that's your adrenal ratio. And I talk about both of them in conjunction because
part of the problem we're running into right now is people are having thyroid issues, but, they're only addressing the thyroid. They're not addressing the adrenal fatigue or the hyperadrenia. And so therefore you're never going to get that long lasting effects in supporting the thyroid. So ideally I'd like to have you at a 4.2 here. Anything above a 2.2 is an acceptable range. So you are
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (24:56.672)
on the lower end, but you're still 100 % in a good healthy range. If you dropped below a 2.2, that would be when we start looking at hyperthyroid type function. And so that low ratio just means you have increased effect. Your thyroid has an increased effect on the cells. So a lot of times this can indicate metal toxicity. Okay. So then we start looking at, metal
let's focus on the metals at this point. But hopefully as we're, you know, kind of supporting your thyroid and your adrenals at the same time, you are doing your cilantro. So you're naturally chelating heavy metals anyway. I do. I'm pretty regimented, especially in the last eight months with a supplement called biotoxin binder or HTMA binder from Cellcore, which is a full of the cumic, you know, covalent bond forming binder. Yeah.
That's fantastic. I have not recommended... Yeah, have not recommended Cellcore yet, but I know a lot about them. I just have other products that I know intimately well that I recommend. So, okay, let's look at your adrenals. So, NA to Mg, sodium to magnesium. This is your adrenal ratio. So, I would love to see your adrenals at a 4. Right now, you're at a 6.27. So,
anything above a six is starting to indicate higher adrenal activity. So, know, kind of settling in that sympathetic response. Your adrenals are involved with blood sugar regulation, your fight or flight response. So again, that discussion I had about, you know, getting into that parasympathetic state before eating that,
four, seven, eight breathing technique, breathing in for four seconds, holding it for seven, breathing out for eight and repeating that process four times will help to bring you out of that sympathetic state. Additionally, because magnesium is involved with blood sugar regulation, you will see that be supported as well. But your adrenals love sodium. I mean, that is the primary mineral for your adrenals. yeah, I am wired. Like it's, is, I'm a hard
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (27:16.13)
my energy feels like very high and hot and it's hard for me to wind down at the end of the day. You know, I mentioned sleep is good. I'm tracking sleep. I look at it every night. It's something I'm constantly examining, but I am that person when I don't properly wind down or I have caffeine too late in the day, which I am a slow metabolizer of per my genetic data. I will have that like kind of like wake up in the middle of the night and you have to, you know,
down regulate again and go through a guided meditation or hypnosis. that is, it's like I'm dancing. do sleep well, but I work for it every single night. I work for it. And if I don't do all the things, the body is wants to trend towards that like elevated energetic state. when you're saying you wake up and you're, mean, is it usually between one and three? I think that's fair to say. Yeah.
So a lot of times when I see clients waking up between one and three, mean, that's obviously the time of day in the evening when your liver is starting to detox. But also for some of my clients, what I see happening is their blood sugar is dropping too low in the middle of the night and their adrenals are kicking in to secrete cortisol to bring their blood sugar back up into that acceptable range.
So for some of my clients, I have recommended doing a spoonful of sprouted almond butter or some sort of good healthy fat. have carbohydrates that are your sprinters and then you have fats that are your marathon runners. And so your body can source glucose from either one of those. That's going to give you
keep you from spiking, it's going to give you slow rolling hills. And so that's one way I'd be interested to see if you introduced a healthy fat, if you're in one of those cycles, if that helped from keeping your blood sugar from dropping too low. Yeah. would say I can, and it's interesting because I use the bio strap, which charts, you know, my heart rate. And I do see sometimes I get this really crazy heart rate spike once in a while. I'd have to go back and look at the net. I have to go back and look at a whole month.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (29:27.36)
Sure. Sure. And just kind of examine that and see what's happening. But generally, you know, I am not a sugar person. Now I slept really great last night. I had it, in fact, incredible scores. Honestly, it's been like eight or nine days. I've been supplementing with the liquid magnesium from upgrade to formulas. And it's literally some of the best scores I've ever had in my life. I'm doing that on a nasal. I've been doing a nasal expander, which I do have a very bad
deviated septum and my O2 can drop at night. Sure. Those two things have gotten me like eight or nine days in a row of some of the best sleep I've ever had, honestly. Fantastic. I'm going to need to do that. I need to remember that because I am right now in a very sympathetic state with this puppy that has a broken leg and I am tasked with keeping him immobile and for the next six weeks. So it sounds easier said than done.
We've reverted back to waking up in the middle of the night because we're not outside enough. So thank you for that reminder. take his capsule magnesium pretty much every night, but I have the liquid. I may need to go back to the liquid for a period of time while we're kind of going through this. liquid hits me. I've done the powder, but the liquid I can feel, especially the first two or three nights, I could feel the level of relaxation in my body. was like, whoa, this is really
That's fantastic. love hearing that. A lot of times we do these consults and you make recommendations for people and then you never really, I mean, they come back and they say, how do I tweak it again? But I don't hear those like tangible, yeah, I did the liquid and it, can literally feel my body relaxing. Cause you've got 45 minutes to get through. Okay. What's my next steps. So it's awesome to hear that. Yeah. And from somebody from, know, and I do like, have a,
It's by optimizers. have the 10 forms of magnesium breakthrough, which is 10 forms of elemental. But really what I noticed from that one is I go to the bathroom better. That keeps me a little more regular, but I haven't noticed the calming effect. And if I go to two to three caps of that form, I have disaster pants the next day. It's just like three is, it's just my body will not absorb it for whatever reason. Well, a lot of times too.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (31:50.211)
I want to say I'm not positive, but bio-optimizers has some zinc citrate or zinc oxide. can't remember which. in practice, that's what we use as a laxative. threonate is a binder that breaks the blood-brain barrier. So, we use that for people with anxiety. And then you have glycinate, which is really good for the muscles.
You've got gluconate, which you think about gluconate, glucose, that's a great binder for any mineral, but citrate and oxide, that bond cannot be broken. So that's why it just moves things right along. it. That makes sense. Yeah.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (32:36.047)
Hi friends, hope you're loving this show. Let's take a quick break to hear a word from our sponsors. I've become increasingly aware of the way environmental toxicity affects my body. Now in the past, I've tested high for mercury, lead, cadmium, glyphosate, and mycotoxins from mold. Now I know what you're thinking, that is a full bucket. And even worse than the list of toxins was the fatigue, the neuralgia, and the brain fog due to the burden on the system.
So luckily I was introduced to the Ion Cleanse Foot Bath by AMD at a wellness conference. The system uses both positive and negatively charged ions to help eliminate these harmful toxins from the body. So my N equals one experiment? After four months, I've watched most environmental toxicity fall by more than 30 % through diagnostic testing. So for me, this is a win-win. The Ion Cleanse by AMD is a fan favorite of the podcast because it's safe.
It's effective and it's a non-invasive way to cleanse and purify the body. So as a special promotion, Ion Cleanse by AMD is offering a free 15 minute consult where you can explore your personal needs to see if this technology may be the right solution for you and your family. So schedule your free 15 minute phone consult by selecting the link in the show notes, my Instagram at freddysetgo or freddysetgo.com. Friends, this is a heart centered company.
The support team is amazing and they offer a 60 day, 100 % money back guarantee. That is zero risk for the customer. So if you're ready to purchase visit www.amajordifference.com and mention the beautifully broken podcast as your referral source. Namaste. Now let's get back to the show.
Okay, so we want to support your adrenals. We want to support your thyroid. There are two things that I recommend most to do with that. they are obviously we're going to talk about your minerals, but also I really like lemon balm. Lemon balm is an herb and you can get it in a tincture, you can get it in a capsule. They make teas.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (34:45.498)
But it is a precursor for GABA or GABA production. And so it is a wonderful nourishing herb to your thyroid and your adrenals just to kind of settle and calm things. I actually recommended a lot for clients who are having PMS symptoms. Okay. So ZN to CU, Zinc to Copper.
Zinc to copper is your hormone ratio. So I mentioned earlier that zinc enhances testosterone and copper enhances estrogen. My ideal ratio here is going to be an eight. Anything above a 10 can be an indicator for a need for copper or also copper toxicity. interesting thing about copper is copper can bind to estrogen. And so we have to be there's some indicators for hidden copper toxicity.
But I typically don't make a lot of recommendations here on a first consult because sometimes in just balancing your macros, I will see that balance itself out in a second consult. But I will take a look before we're done with the indicators for copper toxicity. CA to Mg, that's calcium to magnesium. And calcium to magnesium is your blood sugar ratio. I would love to see you at a seven.
you're at a 6.42. So what that tells me is, a, you have really good cardiovascular health, calcium contracts the heart while magnesium relaxes the heart. So, you know, being at that ideal number, also tells me you don't have a, sometimes when we see elevated magnesium, there can be a loss there rather than too much magnesium.
And so it's telling me you're not showing a magnesium deficiency, a tendency towards insulin resistance or high blood sugar, anything like that. So when you are consuming carbohydrates, you have that perfect ratio to be able to handle and keep your blood sugar in those slow rolling hills. Okay. Fe to Cu, this is iron to copper. This is your infection ratio.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (36:54.267)
Ideally, I'd like to have you at a 0.9, but anything below a 1.6 is a great ratio. So you're kind of trending towards the higher side of things. Again, that is more related to, you know, your iron shows slightly elevated and your copper is showing slightly low. Well, this will be something to watch. You're not in a place where I would want to intervene at this point. I want to focus on those macros, but it is something to be aware of.
Now, what do mean by infection rate? that tells me if you trend, so if you're on the higher side, so if this, you're at a 1.43 right here, if you were above a 1.6, if you're getting 1.7 greater than two, it tells me you're going to have an increased risk for bacterial infections. Interesting. Yeah. So it is really looking at the body is that stirs up the idea of like terrain, you what is my body open to terrain?
idea of a terrain theory or balancing the bioterrain. often mention when we're talking about wellness as a whole picture. Can you explain a little more on why that would allow that to occur from a mineral standpoint? Sure. So from a mineral standpoint, so zinc enhances and supports the immune system to fight viral while copper supports and enhances biting bacterial infections.
they are antagonistic to one another. So when your zinc gets a little bit too high, you shoot down. I actually, Barton had a really great example of his friend of his he had over for dinner, and he'd been taking high doses of zinc, because it was during COVID. everybody across the country, everybody was taking zinc.
He had a massive bacterial infection. think he had thrush or something like that. Obviously, this was not my experience. I am repeating it. So, I might be getting it wrong. But the bottom line is he had a bacterial infection. And so, he gave him some copper to help fight that bacterial infection and rebalance that zinc to copper ratio.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (39:08.581)
And so when we go back and we look at your copper, you you're below optimal here. I would love to see you come up and then your iron levels are slightly elevated. And so that's what is allowing for a possible bacterial infection to take root. Yeah. Are you taking vitamin C on a daily basis? No. Okay. No, I really don't take a lot of vitamins.
Okay, sometimes I see people's elevated iron levels, which again, I have to take it with a grain of salt because it was beard, it wasn't scalp. And so your numbers may actually be perfect. Your copper just may be even lower than this. Okay. Interesting. So again, it's focusing on those macro minerals, getting those balanced. And then, you know, a lot of times I will give people
just a little bit of homework to go and look at copper rich foods. mean, my favorite is going to be dark chocolate. So I'm a dark chocolate fiend. Well, you go. I'm basically giving you, okay, well, I'm giving you permission to eat dark chocolate. I crave it. I crave it. The only thing I have to be careful about is that if I have dark chocolate after two, it will affect my sleep. Really? Yeah. Interesting. I am caffeine sensitive. Okay. How I break that down.
Yeah. You know, some other rich forms of copper, also zinc and selenium or Brazil nuts, oysters, they're the same. Lots of different kinds of mushrooms, cashews, tahini. Those are all good sources of copper as well. Wonderful. Can I just ask one more question about the last column we were on? And that is, that's F E to copper. That's iron to copper.
So if somebody like back to a, just to put it on like, uh, maybe open the door to women's health for a second. If, uh, if a woman is really trending towards like yeast infections that were coming up again and again and again, would that be a ratio that you would see as an indicator to hear something we might be able to help you with as opposed to just battling down yeast infections, but looking at the minerals to rebalance the body's propensity towards bacteria? 100%. Oh, interesting. Cause that's a very common thing that I get oftentimes are like,
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (41:24.094)
You know, I work with a system that works with magnetic fields and frequency delivery into the body called amp coil. we do, have all these different ways to send signaling through entrainment to get the body to rebalance. But a lot of times it's like playing whack-a-mole with these infections that just come up. Or the other one I hear is that I get a lot of DMs about is like after sex health, like there are many people out there that have sex and sex will often mean like some type of a bacterial infection every single time, or they've got to take antibiotics or they got to the.
I'm trying to think with the other, the D-Manos, whatever it is, it's very common. I'm like, yeah. is it really the biology of the two people interacting or is it the terrain? It's the terrain. I mean, my personal belief is that it's the terrain I see. I mean, well, I'll just be honest, I've gone through it before. You when I was younger, it did not matter. It was one of those things where it didn't matter what I did, how good my diet was.
Now at the time, I mean, I would say my diet wasn't like it is now, but I thought it was pretty good. It was pretty rich in sugar. So I was just feeding the bacteria and it wasn't until I started, I mean, didn't, again, I didn't have this knowledge then, but it wasn't until I started feeding the good bacteria and taking the proper probiotics that I was finally able to get out of that cycle. Yeah. Fascinating. Great.
not to derail us there, but I just think that's great. So toxic ratios, we want your toxic ratios actually to all be in the white. So I feel like that's probably the most common misconception is they look at their toxic ratios, and everything's really high and they freak out because they think, my gosh, I have too much heavy metal. Well, the reality is
when your ratios are high, you can see it says that acceptable range is in the white. When your ratios are high, it says you have more of the nutritional element than you do the toxic elements. So we look at your selenium, SE to HG, that's selenium to mercury, and we look at zinc to mercury. Those are trending down into those lower ranges. again, detoxing
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (43:39.935)
mercury at some point, but while supporting the nutritional elements is going to be important for you moving forward. Yeah. I got to dig up my first HCMA test. was like every metal is like all the way to the top. mean, in the initial box, even there, and then the ratios were just all over. was like everything was as backwards as it could possibly be. I was also very sick at that time and just went through treatment for metastatic cancer. And I had just discovered Lyme and all these different
illnesses that were happening in the train, but my train was a mess. And when I first started to experiment with adding minerals, I felt bad, horrible aggravation and joint pain, terrible aggravation. Like I couldn't do it. You know, I basically every time I make an endeavor down this path to rebalance minerals, I quit because it was just so painful. did you eventually overcome that? Actually, what did you I mean, this was prior to, you know,
HTMA and upgraded. you know, a lot of times rebalancing minerals, part of the reason you're having an issue with just being uncomfortable with pain, nausea is because you don't have enough hydrochloric acid. Again, that digestive cascade comes back into the picture where you're not even able to digest to utilize those minerals properly. Yeah. So what did you do then? I'm just curious. What did you do then that kind of got you over that hump?
It was really a net cumulative effect of all the things, right? Better awareness around stress management was definitely one thing, but I did brought in certain tools like pulse electromagnetic field, like frequency therapy that greatly down-regulated my immune system. And I had a physical reduction in pain. So that allowed me to kind of open the door to other things. it was like, you know, years of doing supporting my liver through coffee enemas were a huge, I always had a
great downward stream effect of doing a coffee animal. was like, wow, brain works better. Pain is diminished. And, you know, there's lots of reasons that we could break that one down. Things like that being very consistent, consistent in the sauna. And then really it was just branding. You know, what brand of mineral was I trying? The Great Lakes minerals from Amazon were terrible for me. They still are. It's still a really bad experience. like somebody like Cellcore,
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (46:00.395)
or upgraded formulas, something really looking at something like a humic or fulvic acid from a desiccated plant or a decomposed plant was started to be tolerable to me. So, you know, I think just over time it's gotten better and better and better. Energy's better. Sleep is better. Gut function is better. Sure. Obviously in there, in all that, one of the big things was like you took out all the triggers and just said, I'll never eat gluten again. I'm never eating processed sugar again.
And it was very easy for me, given the severity of my health, to just say, we're doing this today. There's no going back. it's been, I joke, it's like 2009 is the last time I had processed sugar. Or That's impressive. That's incredible. Or any of it. Now I can eat dairy again and I can do some cows. Or I can do some goat cheese. I don't drink milk, but I can tolerate those things and be quite good. In the last year, deliberate cold exposure.
So doing ice baths four or five times a week and that has re-regulated my body temperature. So now I'm not cold anymore. know, just it's been everything. Everything helped a lot. You know, red light exposure. You started this journey in 2009? I got cancer in 2006, 2007. Okay. And did surgeries up to 2015. Wow. You going in and taking out, you know, retroperitoneal lymph node dissection, small bowel, complete obstruction, removing a small.
one foot of small intestine going in and doing like license of adhesions in 2015, where they just whack them all and scar tissue in the belly because it was so reactive. And then after that, having it be even worse, the scar tissue in the adhesions. And that's when I started to look at magnetism, pulse electromagnetic field and frequency, which kind of took that scar tissue from reacting and clenching. And it just went go, go, go. Like in three months, it was like, it just stopped.
And that reduction of chronic pain allowed me to entertain and kind of walk through more doors. Sure. Sure. When that chronic pain goes away and you're not just like gritting down your teeth all day every day, you're like, everything's possible. So that's been, it's just allowed me to add more. That's really, you have an incredible story. It's a wild story. Yeah. Yeah. It is. I'm super lucky to have found all these things. Yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (48:21.551)
Okay, well, let's look at additional ratios. The third one down, CU to MO, is copper to molybdenum, and you're at 233.33. I'd love to see you at a 625. So, when we are low like this, you're kind of qualified as a slightly slow oxidizer, which would indicate a need for copper. But again, I mentioned earlier, copper toxicity can be hidden.
which a lot of times will get revealed in secondary tests. And so I will look to see if you have signs of it. But again, I don't like to really mess with copper on the beginning because unless I know for sure you have copper toxicity, I don't want to...
give you copper because when copper and estrogen bind, they just recirculate. So your body produces more estrogen, takes in more copper, and you just end up in this really terrible cycle. see it shockingly. I didn't realize how much I was seeing it in men. It's very common for women. I see it a ton in women. mean, there's breast cancer with estrogen dominance. I see the lumps in the breast or the sore breasts, the
clotting, the heavy periods, those are obvious things for women. But what I'm seeing in men now is issues with their prostate. And that's how I know they have estrogen dominant type symptoms. Interestingly enough, I listened to a podcast and blanking it was on Dr. Ax's show, but he was talking about golfers having
estrogen dominance because of their exposure to all the toxins on the greens. You know, this is so, maybe this is a horrible way to frame this, but when I look at golfers in general, they're not in incredible shape. And many, many you could say have a little bit of like, I'm just thinking of like all the times I've watched golf on the golf channel, there's like a lot of golfers with like a little bit of like man boobs. Yep.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (50:28.976)
You what I mean? all do have that. Now, listen, you could say it's because people drive around in a golf cart, many people with like a cooler full of Budweiser. Right. Right. And it's like, you know, but there are, that's really, really fascinating to think about the extra glyphosate, right? The extra carcinogens that those people are breathing, ventilating in by being on the golf course. Wild. Wild.
The body is amazing because it just really does communicate with its immediate environment, takes on whatever is there. It really does. So I'm actually looking through my little indicators for copper toxicity and you have a few of the markers, but not enough of them. What I actually am seeing is possible iodine deficiency. 100%. Yeah. Yeah. Well, yeah, you want to know why? I think.
is because when I went full rogue paleo health man, and then I went all forms of iodine are kind of gone. You know, I hardcore pink sea salt, no table salt, which is a huge source of iodine from like 2009, maybe to like six months ago, where I just found a brand of sea salt that is re iodized. And then of course I do have some Barton, he did give me some, haven't really haven't taken it.
And then I have a mega dose one from Cellcore, which is their belief system is like, they see that very, very commonly. It's a very high dose, but I haven't really consistently played around with that yet. A little bit. I do it like, you know, maybe two, three times a week, but nothing consistent. No amount of time is going there yet. So I actually really, I take Barton's and I've even noticed me starting to get cooler in Texas. I wouldn't say cold, but cooler in Texas where
Last year when we had that polar vortex, was freezing. mean, everybody was freezing. We had no heat in the house. I mean, it was colder inside my house than it was outside. But during those days when we had no heat, I took more iodine than I usually do. And all of a sudden I didn't need, you know, I needed socks, but it wasn't like that. Oh my gosh, I'm wearing socks and boots and my hands and feet are still freezing. Yeah. Oh, I can't, I have those like...
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (52:47.282)
Five people in my universe. like, I'm going to call them right after this. They get this test. I've been saying it for a while. I was like, you guys are like polishing, you're arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic with all this. What smoothie to do if we don't have these building blocks? It's literally the base of the pyramid. You're good money after bad at that point, right? You really have to address the building blocks because the building blocks and then that digestive cascade.
you can have the cleanest best diet in the world. But if you are not digesting your supplements, your food, whatever, you can't absorb it. So, well, let's talk a little bit about recommendations. Honestly, your ratios really do look pretty darn good. Awesome. Great. So there's a couple of things that I would definitely recommend you do. And then there's some optional type things.
I would continue doing your sodium. What was the one you were using? You mentioned it earlier that your electrolyte mix that you remineralized. yeah. have it. It's called CT Minerals, which is just trace minerals from Salcor. And then I do have that. Is it the LMT, LTM? Yeah, LMT, Rob Wolf's. And that's about a thousand milligrams of sodium and about 300 milligrams of potassium. I try to do one a day of those.
Okay. And I mean, and again, there has been no, maybe 20 days of that. So that's new. Okay. So I would like for you to keep up on the liquid magnesium. So if you're taking, you said you're taking three droppers at night. Right now I'm probably consistently doing two droppers. Okay. So that's about 200, two milliliters or 200 milligrams in the evening, which is great. I would like to, so we're going to continue that magnesium.
your blood sugar regulation looks really good. Your adrenals. So for adrenals, again, that's I want you to continue that magnesium because it is important to blood sugar regulation. So it's going to support your adrenals by default, right? Keeping your blood sugar from
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (55:01.532)
you know, spiking dropping too low. One thing that we noticed was your chromium was really elevated here. like a sugar support, you wouldn't need it anyway. But I'm just looking at your individual levels. That's something I'm going to want to watch for. I want to bring your chromium levels back into that acceptable range.
Other than that, I mean, your numbers look so good. like, I don't want to give you stuff to do that you don't need to do. I mean, you could certainly do some upgraded memory if you wanted to. Upgraded memory is a combination. So it's going to have manganese, molybdenum, phosphorus, iodine, and boron.
And this would be the phosphorus is going to be supporting that metabolism state. The boron is going to make sure your calcium is getting into your bones. Iodine is going to support this thyroid function right here, the C8K. And then manganese, your manganese was slightly below optimal. So that's why you could support there. And then molybdenum, because it's so important to your detox pathways, that's something you could do. But it's not a, I mean, honestly,
I'm really pleased with where you're at. If you honestly just wanted to do like food sources of phosphorus, you could certainly do that. But you said the upgraded memory would have a lot of those things. would have... it's a combination. So it's a liquid combo. And for that one, I would do just the daily serving size. And let's see how you're doing in 90 days, which is going to be four droppers or four milliliters. I don't really find a need to do more than that because your numbers are...
trying to tweak them just ever so slightly. Okay. I would consider doing a lemon balm. Tincture. Yup. Tincture is great. I like Oregon's Wild Harvest or Wise Woman Herbals. Those are the two brands. my background actually is in supplement vetting. I took some courses to determine. I had too many clients coming to me and they're in Whole Foods or natural grocers and they're sick and they want something. And
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (57:13.067)
I mean, I can't, I don't know every supplement company on the planet. And so I got into supplement vetting where people can turn the bottle around and show me the ingredient list. And I can say, yes, that is the forms that you want or no, put that one back down and grab a different one and show me that one. And so those two herbal companies I really like. also like herb pharma and Gaia.
But Wise Woman Herbals, she's an incredible person and I really love seeing how purposeful she is about harvesting her herbs and I really like her product line. Wonderful. Yeah, that sounds great. And then keep supporting your liver pathways. I'm doing that right now. That's fantastic. Pathway 1 and 2 detox supplement that's very comprehensive and I do a little magnesium with that as well. That's huge. That's huge.
And that's new. That's after this test has come out. Okay. I'm doing an adrenal support and a liver support as far as- in the adrenal support? Let me grab it really quick. Let's see here. There's a little bit of 125 milligrams of vitamin C, B6, 15 milligrams, adrenal gland from a bovine extract, ginseng extract, glutro, licorice, rhodiola, shiarda, some herb I can't pronounce.
Tell me on the B6, what form is it? Is it P5P? it peroxide? Okay, good. So B6 is really critical to a number of different functions. It helps to get magnesium into the cells. It is one of the building blocks for hydrochloric acid. So obviously hydration is critical, but also B1, B6 and zinc are your three building blocks for hydrochloric acid. And then
Yeah, it supports the liver. So I would actually recommend upping your B6. You could go up to 100 milligrams of B6 in the form of P5P. Since you're already probably getting that from other places, I would look into Pure Formulas, makes one that's 50-milligram tablet. And then be careful with the ginseng. I love ginseng, but I typically use ginseng
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (59:36.321)
as a stimulatory for the adrenals. So it's when I see my clients in adrenal fatigue. Now, is there an adrenal support that upgraded formulas uses? No, there is not. I mean, we support elementally, right? With, you know, recommending sodium and magnesium, but there's not an herbal formula or anything like that, that upgraded formulas has. Right.
I do love a desiccated adrenal gland though for anybody who is hyper or hypo. I actually personally am taking ancestral supplements right now, their adrenal cortex plus liver. I got it. Wonderful. Wonderful. Liver is also a really good source of B vitamins. Yeah. So you could always either consume it or take it. I'm one of those people, I just can't get there. If you put it in a capsule or I can break the capsule open and put it in my
you know, over my food or in my food, I can do it that way. But the act of eating a liver, just can't do it. Yeah, no, totally. I make a chicken liver pate that's actually quite good. And I'm probably go grab some today and do up a batch. Well, next time I'm in Austin, I'm going to have to swing by and taste it. Maybe if you make a really good batch, it'll change my mind. It's good if you get it on the right, you know, I slice up some carrots and roast those in the oven and
know, use a vegetable chip of some sort. It's pretty good. Awesome. Yeah. So you're going to continue the liquid magnesium. You're going to add in upgraded memory, just four droppers or four milliliters daily. Because you have had issues with kind of digesting things and making you nauseous, obviously you're going to want to add it to some water just to make it easier for you.
And then B6, let's add in 100 milligrams of B6 in the form of P5P that will help with that absorption of the magnesium. Additionally, it's going to support your liver. So while you're doing this liver supportive measures with Cellcore, I would love for you to get some additional B6. Wonderful. And then the only other question I had is about the, we mentioned the iodine. Yes. does that come into play? So it's actually an upgraded memory. Okay, great.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (01:01:53.153)
And I also already have, I do have the iodine from upgraded formulas. So what I would do is upgraded memory is a very small amount. It's actually only going to be getting like 450 micrograms. Upgraded iodine just straight is going to be five milligrams in 40 drops. So I always tell people to start low and slow with iodine.
And the main reason for that is if you think about what iodine is used for in surgery, is you're painting it on the skin to basically kill everything to create a sterile field. iodine is going to do the same thing in your body. So you want to start low and slow so you don't have any healing reactions or detox reactions. So I would start with 20 drops sublingually daily.
and I would work up to the 40. Wonderful. Amazing. That's a great spot to start. Awesome. Well, I look forward to seeing your test results in a couple of months and seeing improvements and where we can tweak some things. Me too. We'll do it again. We'll go for round two. Tori, thank you so much. It's been so amazing. I'm so excited about it.
doing this work and being able to share it with others. think this is just a great reminder of how much power we have with a little kit that can be mailed to your home and you can send your hair away and really knock your wellness, knock your vitality or energy out of the park and really go impress your medical doctor, right? What are you doing? Yeah. that was the thing that they said to my husband when we went back to the oncologist was I can't medically explain what's happened to you. Yeah. It's very powerful.
Well, thank you for doing what you're doing and thank you for sharing this on the podcast. I really appreciate it. Well, thank you for having me. I appreciate it. It was good talking to you. Awesome. Namaste. Bye.
Freddie Kimmel and Tori Spielhagen (01:03:52.431)
There's one word that makes me feel really intelligent. It's photobiomodulation, better known as red light therapy. Photobiomodulation has been clinically shown to increase energy, circulation, increased testosterone production and workout recovery, hair growth, even the improvement in the depths of fine lines and wrinkles. You actually don't have a lot of reasons not to incorporate red light therapy in your home and not all panels are created equal.
which is why the panel I recommend to my family and my friends is Lightpath LED for the following reasons. This company continues to evolve their technology, including up to five wavelengths in each bulb. They include a three year warranty. This is one of the most robust in the industry. And they also have pre-programmed frequencies to add the benefit of pulsed light to the body. And most importantly, after purchase support, so you know how to best use your device.
for your specific needs. Now, what does the evolving science say around pulsed light? Pulsed light yields benefit to the mitochondrial health, leading to increased production of cellular energy, thus improved outcomes. So say it with me, let's mind the mitochondria. So check out their beautiful new website at Lightpath LED and use code beautifullybroken, all lowercase, for a discount and checkout.

with thought leaders in the wellness and technology industry. The second way to support this guy right here is to go to freddysetgo.com and download the Beautifully Broken Buyer's Guide. This is my ebook. It's a collection of transformational technology, supplements, and courses that have worked for me, my clients, and my family. These are things that I have found incredibly helpful in my personal healing journey, like the ionic foot bath or amp coil or the red light.
