EPISODE TRANSCRIPT

Freddie Kimmel (00:03.308)
Welcome to the Beautifully Broken podcast. I'm your host, Freddie Kimmel, and on the show we explore the survivor's journey, practitioners making a difference, and the therapeutic treatments and transformational technology that allow the body to heal itself. Witness the inspiration we gain by navigating the human experience with grace, humility, and a healthy dose of mistakes, because part of being human is being beautifully broken.

Freddie Kimmel (00:35.244)
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the beautifully broken podcast. I am so excited about this topic. Something I use every night is a castor oil pack. Castor oil has changed the quality of scar tissue in my belly. It's changed the smooth muscle contractions or the lymph in my belly. It's changed my bowel movements, which you know I love. And I've sat down and record this one a couple of times and it just didn't have the magic that castor oil deserves. There is evidence.

for the topical application of castor oil in multiple medical journals, which I've cited in an article on beautifullybroken.world, which I'd love you to go read. I'd love you to go read. And what I want to do, because I live and learn in long form content, and I got so much value through my medical journey out of podcasts, I'd love to give you enough evidentiary proof that if you've never done one, you start doing a castor oil pack. My mentor,

Dr. Dixon Tom uses them. We talked about them extensively in both of his episodes from the Biomed Center. It is something that is a 5,000 year old practice. So castor oil is derived from the seed of the castor plant, which is native to India. And when I say this practice is old and has roots throughout time, in ancient Egypt, people use castor oil as an ointment to protect their skin and eyes and harsh desert conditions.

as well as to treat wounds and as a digestive remedy. In ancient Greece guided by Hippocrates, it was embraced for its laxative and purgative properties. So the science is there. Approximately 90 % of castor oil is composed of ricinoleic acid.

Ricin is a fatty acid known for its anti-inflammatory properties because it penetrates the skin and helps to reduce inflammation. We're going to go over on how and why, and I'm going to do my best Huberman take. Andrew Huberman loves to talk science. He's very wordy, and we're going to get a little bit of that here. So, ricinoleic acid is involved in the production of prostaglandin 2E2. So, PGE2. That is a bioactive lipid

Freddie Kimmel (02:50.722)
that plays an important role in various processes in the body such as inflammation, pain perception, very important, and immune response. Ricin interacts with certain receptors in the cell, primarily the EP3 prostanoid receptor. So once ricin activates the EP3 receptor, it triggers a series of biochemical reactions inside the cell that leads to the synthesis of PGE2. The role of PGE2 is very complex and

you need to know that it increases the number of white blood cells and it activates them. That's the level of understanding you need to understand why the value is coming. This is crucial for reducing inflammation in the processes in the body and intracellular. Ricin can also increase the circulation in small blood vessels and promote the exchange of substance between the blood and the tissues. So what I'm hearing here is there is an overlap in the lymphatic system.

So this helps in the removal of inflammatory mediators and components from the place of inflammation. When I do a castor oil pack and I sleep with it overnight and I wake up in the morning, I have abs. It reduces the inflammation of my belly that much. So by reducing inflammation, racinalic acid can help alleviate pain, swelling associated with arthritis, muscle aches,

different joint pains, even rheumatism. It can improve the body's immune response by stimulating the lymphatic system, and it can help in turn remove toxins from tissues. The one thing I like to give people when we're talking about a biohack or a wellness opportunity like castor oil, it's so affordable, it's so accessible. How do I get people on board? So I like to have three or four hits. What are the big value propositions to doing a castor oil pack?

detoxification of the liver, pain relief, anti-inflammatory components, skin health, and digestive support. So I could also add on, we're going to have immune system boosting capabilities because we're supporting lymphatic and drainage and circulation. There's even antiviral capacity to castor oil, which actually there's a PubMed study. It's PMID 22919511. That's PubMed ID. And it just looks at the antiviral

Freddie Kimmel (05:17.463)
capabilities and antibacterial properties of castor oil. It is fascinating. Two things I want to just jump back to because most people, they may not know they need detoxification to support the body. However, this is something that a castor oil pack does. So you'll hear people talk about putting the pack on their belly or their liver. I say do the whole belly, but what it does is it helps cleanse toxins from the body and it enhances the liver's ability to

filter toxic substances and almost subjugate them down to something that's not so volatile. It can also increase glutathione production. That is one of the most powerful antioxidants in the body and helps with the removal of heavy metals. The other one I'll do a mini deep dive on is the pain relief or anti-inflammatory component. Castor oil has a natural ability to smooth painful muscles and joints. So we have smooth muscle contractions which results in

the pumping of fluids, the movement of toxins. It can move those inflammatory mediators out of the space of inflammation. It's also a potent remedy that can reduce, it's called an element called substance P. That is a neuropeptide associated with pain perception and pain transmission. So you would be shocked. Another way I will incorporate this as an anti-inflammatory, I'll rub it on elbows or knees before I go in the sauna.

What I love about this is it's not messy, it's easy to wash off, but you're gonna get that spot treatment for joints that are sore. So great little hack if you have access to a sauna. So now let's get to the step-by-step application. How do you do it? How do you make them? What's the easiest way? Let me say number one, your easiest way is to go to Amazon and look for some organic version of a castor oil pack, and you're gonna look for a glass bottle of hexane-free organic castor oil.

It's so simple. And again, to the level of accessibility across America, what do we really need to do a castor oil pack? You need unbleached dye-free organic wool or a cotton flannel. That's it. You need a piece of fabric that's about as big as your belly. You're going to need high quality, organic, cold pressed, 100 % hexane free, this is important, castor oil. You are going to need some sort of a jar to store that castor oil, which is glass.

Freddie Kimmel (07:41.323)
and you're going to need a heat source that could be a heating pad, a hot water bottle. Now there's definitely debate. People say you don't need heat. You do need heat. What I will give you from my lived experience when I add heat to a castor oil situation, which we're going to talk about, how do you do it? What's it look like? I have a greater reduction in inflammation, pain and better bowel movements. So I've tried both. It seems to function better with heat.

What my mentor, Dr. Tom would say is it gets the molecules vibrating faster so they can move deeper into the skin. And this makes sense to me. What do we do in a lab to increase the time for a chemical reaction to happen or decrease the time? We add heat, right? We add heat, we add a Bunsen burner, the chemical reaction goes quicker at warmer temperatures. Kind of what we're doing with the castor oil. So let's talk about the procedure. The procedure is, again, this is one way.

So you can think about when I started these, I took the piece of fabric or the flannel or the wool and I would almost soak it with castor oil. It was moist but not dripping. I would place that on the belly and then, so I would think the whole midsection, think liver, gallbladder, belly, intestines, large intestines. Why not give the castor oil love this anti-inflammatory movement of chi, balancing the elements of the five energies to all the organs in the peritoneum.

I say definitively, yes. There's no reason just to do a liver if you're go in for the whole thing. You're gonna place a barrier over that. So I like something so the casserole isn't soaking through. So I would typically have a burial, like I would use a thicker towel, and then I'm gonna place the hot water bottle right on the area that I wanna get the most love. I leave that for an hour. I make myself comfortable. I can do breath work. I can meditate. I could watch Netflix if I wanted to.

I could read a good book. I could listen to the beautifully broken podcast. It's really the user's choice. After about an hour, we can take off the pack. We can rub in the excess fluid. And then, you know what I usually do? I take a shower because I just want to de-burden myself from the excess oil. And I'm going to place the castor oil pack in a storage container. I can reuse that a few times. You'll see it's going to get gunky after a little while. Now, if you happen to go with a setup on Amazon,

Freddie Kimmel (10:00.225)
which is almost like a pad. It has a barrier on the outside. Some of them specifically, there's a brand called Queen of Thrones. It's almost got like this thicker fabric that doesn't allow the castor oil to leak through as much. What I've found with the pads on Amazon, depending on quality and sourcing, we're not going to get into which one. You can get away with less castor oil. So even as little as a tablespoon or two, I've gotten some really good results. So you might want to look into this.

Some have fancy straps that button around the midsection. You know, if you see me before I go to bed, it's quite ridiculous. I've got what looks like this midsection diaper on, my mouth is taped, I've got a Breathe Right strip, I've got red light glasses on. I mean, yeah, it's a lot, but what I will tell you is I'm a happy dude because I have less pain and I'm pooping like a rock star. So I want that for you, I want that for you. And...

We'll sum this all up. I just want to give you some closing tips. I would like you to know that castor oil can leave a stain. So don't wear fancy clothes. I have like my castor oil, sweatpants or shorts. And I have a towel. have two junk towels that I will actually wrap around everything to create a barrier while I'm on my couch. I try to do this every day just because the results are great.

But I think it's fair to say, just like lifting weights, that sometimes less can be a little more, right? We don't want to become over reliant on casserole to have a great bowel movement. I think three to four days a week are wonderful and give your body a little reset for that maximum effectiveness. We're really going to be looking at that four days a week and at least, at least try this for a month. Think about this. If you lived 45 years on the planet, like myself, 46 now,

We build up a level of environmental toxicants within the organs of elimination. Think about the liver as a big old filter. It's like a HEPA filter for your blood. Over time, you're gonna release more and more and that liver will become more capable. One of the most important organs to focus on in the body. So give it a month, see how you do, see how your energy is. Check out the dark circles under your eyes. Check out your levels of pain.

Freddie Kimmel (12:12.256)
Check out quality of bowel movements. That would be my checklist. Is this working for me? You know, I said, give it at least a month. Really what I want to say to you is give it 90 days. See how your life changes. Again, this is a low investment. You need wool, you need castor oil, which is not very expensive. You need it to be organic in a glass bottle and you want to look for what? Quality, quality, quality. That's really it friends. The castor oil pack is

Very natural. It's been used for thousands of years. The benefits are uncontestable. And I believe in you. I believe in your greatness. I'm taking a whole episode for Castor Oil, you know, relatively simple technology. You know, I give this example on some of the webinars that I do. Why do I need technology to be well? I think so. I think so. I think we're at a place in history in which the micro stressors, the inability to

be in a predominant time of parasympathetic, poor sleep quality, and the sourcing of our food, the amount of environmental toxicants that are coming at us, I think we need something above and beyond what the body can supply to really help eliminate. And it could just be a good kickstart for you. A lot of times we get these systems online, like the lymph, like the circulatory system.

like the nervous system, its ability to auto-regulate and the body's gonna do the healing for you. So that's what I like about this. Get this into the paradigm, your daily paradigm. It's a simple life hack. And please respond right in. Let me know if you've ever done a castor oil pack. Let me know if you've never done it, but you've been intimidated and scared to. The only downside is that there is a little bit of a mess. And the upside is a better functioning liver.

organs of elimination, immune system, and lower inflammation. I don't know. I hope you're sold. I know I am. I love you so much. This is Freddie from the Beautifully Broken Podcast. Big love. Ladies and gentlemen, biologicalmedicine.org. Don't go there yet. I have a question for you. Are you tired of standing around in this deep knowing that our healthcare system is broken, but we never do anything about it? Well,

Freddie Kimmel (14:31.189)
Biological medicine for practitioners is the ultimate hybrid online and in-person certification course designed to help you integrate biological medicine or bio med into your practice. unlike traditional medicine that often focuses on treating symptoms, bio med treats the whole body addressing root cause of illness through three pillars. approach is truly patient-centered and yields exceptional results. So in this comprehensive course, you will apply foundational knowledge and hands-on experience with the latest diagnostic technologies and therapies, including bioelectrical impedance analysis, heart rate variability testing, pulse electromagnetic field. I know this sounds like it was created just for Freddie.

but this is your chance to become a pioneer in the field of biomed. This is for healthcare and wellness professionals, all the way from doctors to personal trainers. I want you to go to biologicalmedicine.org and look for the enroll now button. And if you use code beautifullybroken, you'll receive the intro to biological medicine for free. That's a $200 value. Friends, let's go do this.

This is our time to seize the day. Join the biomed and help create a real paradigm shift in the way we deliver results for our patients. Let's do this.

Freddie Kimmel (16:14.027)
Ladies and gentlemen, let's take a break from the show and allow me to get up on a soap box. I want to spotlight Silver Biotics Wound Gel. This is a product that is an antimicrobial layer that helps with cuts, lacerations, skin irritation, and first and second degree burns. So it utilizes silver sol technology, which we've talked about. This is the ability to steal electrons from pathogens, making it more effective in the body.

So the company has substantiated its claims with 420 independent studies, as well as 60 patents pending on this groundbreaking tech. So I endorse it because it works, but also due to the extensive research and scientific validation the company has done. So in an independent in vitro report, this is very important, we compared armor gel to seven other similar skin.

care products such as triple antibiotic ointment, the standard of care. The study focused on the kill rate for MRSA, BRE, E. coli pathogens responsible for severe emergency room infections. Within a four hour window, Armourgel completely neutralized the pathogens and this was a feat that was unmatched by any other product in the study. So the Silver Biotics Woon Gel stands out not only for its performance, but actually its price

So this is a must have for moms, for coaches, nurses, doctors, anybody concerned about the body's largest organ, the skin. And in today's environment, I just saw a fact where MRSA infections are up 35 % since 2020. This is crucial. So we just need to be prepared. Don't wait for an emergency room trip. This is something to have in your cupboard. It's under $20 and you get 30 % off using the code, beautifully broken at

Check out this company is giving this to you at cost by using this code and they are not only a sponsor of the podcast, but they are friends and I support what they're doing in the world.
